Advantages of the 1” Aeromixer THE HOSE

We found the Aeromixer customer service folks to be wonderfully responsive when we first reported an issue with our hose.

We did Two Different Tests:

Test 1:
With pressure via an outside hydrant with a 40-60 pump switch, we wanted to see how long it would take to fill up a 5 gallon bucket with a 75 ft. 1” hose.
Results:
1) the 1” hose filled the bucket in 22 seconds.
2) a 3/4” hose filled the bucket in 34 seconds.
There is a 50% advantage with the 1” hose versus the 3/4” hose, as the engineering data we researched indicates.

Test 2:
This describes the application for which we purchased this 75 ft. hose.
We use an IBC 275 gallon tank, elevated on a front end loader of the tractor. Its purpose is to utilize the gravity water flow for watering tree seedlings.
Results:
1) 1” 75 ft. hose filled a 5 gallon bucket in 33 seconds.
2) 3/4” 75 ft. hose filled the 5 gallon bucket in 103 seconds.

The 1” 75 ft. hose produced a whopping 3 times the amount of water than the 3/4” hose!

Please note:
This hose is advertised with NPT threads, which is incorrect. NPT is a TAPERED fitting. THE HOSE is an NPSH thread, which is STRAIGHT (NO TAPER), which seals to the washer.

I built the valve going from the IBC tank and the splitter with NPT fittings. But you will need to purchase an adapter that goes from Male NPT to Male NPSH to connect the hose.

Note: NPT and NPSH have the same amount of threads per inch, but they are NOT compatible.

For example, it is possible but not correct to thread the female end of the hose to NPT. If you do so, you will strip out the threads of THE HOSE as the diameter of the taper of the NPT fitting increases. Thus THE HOSE will never screw on far enough to seal to the washer. I did not know that I should use a NPSH fitting there.

There will be a dramatic leak at the female swivel of THE HOSE, if you are plumbing an 1” continuous that would eventually adapt too THE HOSE. That’s where you have to use the 1” male NPT to male NPSH.

If you want to use the provided plastic adapter to connect a 1” hose to you standard 3/4” hydrant, that will work beautifully, but it is not NPT, so that’s why it works.
